Cold Creek Furniture Company is offering their distinctive reproduction frontier style breadboxes for your consideration.These breadboxes were used by pioneer settlers beginning around 1810, east of the Mississippi, and staying with folks as they made their way west. Many of these boxes were known to be used in the Dakotas and Kansas up until 1910, where they were referred to as 'biscuit boxes'.We bench-build and finish these bread boxes in our Wisconsin shop using native solid wood. They are smoothly finished with strong, neat joinery, yet are fitted and shaped to reflect the work and tooling of a country craftsman of the late 18th century.All joints are glued and nailed, with no exposed nail holes. The door frame is lap jointed for strength.The hinges are solid antiqued brass.
