1986 FENDER JAPAN CONTEMPORARY STRATOCASTERFactory System I Tremelo, E-Series w/Original Case! During the 1980's, Fender made many super high quality guitars in Japan. The Fender Contemporary models were the first Fender Japan models to be named Fender (previous Fender Japan models were all designated "Squier" models). The Fender Contemporary models were manufactured from 1984 to 1987 by FujiGen Gakki (Ibanez) and these Stratocasters were designed to be "superstrats" with a Floyd Rose like bridge designed by Gotoh. The Fender Contemporary Stratocaster was part of the Fender Japan E series model range (which are considered the best Fender Japan guitars made). This guitar features the System I tremolo system, which uses a behind the nut string locking mechanism and was manufactured by Gotoh.
