john deere walk behind commercial mower

This is a used commercial walk mower. I bought it last year from a neighbor for my son to use cutting a few neighborhood lawns. It was cutting great but about two weeks ago the transmission seemed to all of a sudden go out. It would go forward in 1st gear or reverse, but wouldn't respond to the other gears. Due to the age of the mower, I really don't want to spend any money on a repair. The motor is a kawasaki fc420v 14 hp. It is still running strong. The recoil (i have the recoil but it is not attached to the mower) is missing and I just started it by wrapping a rope around it. It almost always hits on the first try. I think it would be great for someone who could use the motor or is knowledgeable enough to work on the transmission. This item would be available for local pickup in Nashville TN only.
