What made these so popular was the RUBY RED & PURPLE hue of the lenses. (Plus, they were featured in a few movies. Which didn’t hurt either) and of course, this purple hue is only found on the 1st generation ruby’s! (The 2nd gens have some purple too, but not as profound) Oakley has continued to produce these awesome frames with the “ruby” lenses, but they no longer have the sought after purple hue.As you can see in the pics, these glasses have very low serial # on the inner left arm **X005126**, which is why collectors will be after these!
