Superior/Tonka Penny Gumball Machine, Jet Transformer

Is your little guy into transformers? I have an adorable little penny gumball machine that transforms from a jet into a guy in just 2 steps.  The base is red plastic, the jet a light gray plastic and there is a clear plastic container behind the jet that holds the gumballs.  The "key" to open the base for filling is stored on the bottom.  This one still has the key but I can't seem to get it open, there may be some trick to it I haven't figured out.  Underneath is marked Superior Toy & Mfg.
